Friday Fictioneers 13/04…

It’s that time of the week again for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers photo prompt challenge.  The idea being that you write a story in 100 words:

Here is the photo PROMPT (credit Yarnspinner):

Buy Some Time

I could taste metal: my lip, courtesy of the arsehole in the balaclava. Detained in a crumbling room, arms bound; a busted fan hung from the ceiling.  The breeze taunted from an open window.  There would be no easy release from this confinement.

They’d warned of these sorts of establishments in training. This was where they attempted to extract intelligence; a real possibility that I may take my last breath here. I knew too much.  They knew it too.

My focus was that window. I had to humour them, play by the rules, buy some time.

‘We need that name…’

  1. You’ve given your protagonist a real sense of focus. There’s no feeling of ‘rabbit caught in the headlights’ – she’s alert and calculating her chances. With the interest she has in the window, I’m wondering whether she has a colleague who may intervene…
