A couple of blogs have inspired me today so rather than create an individual post per prompt, I am going to compile them here:
First up : Patricia’s Place
Prompt: happenstance
Like cherry blossoms;
buds bloomed, in lovers first spring;
fated happenstance.
Story Writing Exercises 1360: Thursday 29th March
Morgen’s story writing exercises today are below. I’ve only managed to do three out the four exercises but put them all if you are inclined to give them all a whirl.
Time yourself for 15 minutes for each one, then either have a break or move on to the next one. When you’ve finished, do pop over to this blog’s Facebook Group and let everyone know how you got on.
Below are the four – you can do them in any order.
- Keywords: serve, break, flower, multi-coloured, soda
- Random: a mama’s boy
- Picture: what does this inspire?
- Final sentence end: …in disgrace.
Keywords: serve, break, flower, multi-coloured, soda
Excitement spread through the campus as the final bell rang; the start of Spring break. Jeanie was happy she had found a group of friends who were willing to overlook her poorer circumstance. She had been extended an invite to join her best friend at their holiday home in Florida for a long weekend.
She’d saved her money meticulously, earned serving soda at the local burger joint. Not wanting to show Maisie up, scrimped and saved to ensure she had the trendy bathing suits, teeshirts and flower dresses to get by.
Party time had arrived and she kissed her momma the day they left for the beach, her multi-coloured bangles jangling as she waved goodbye.
Random: a mama’s boy
Cherub nose, cheeks so sweet;
baby smell, cute fingertips and toes.
As years passed, he became a man.
Played a dangerous game,
knocked around with the wrong crowd.
Got caught, did some time.
In her eyes, he did no wrong;
he would always be a mama’s boy.
Picture: what does this inspire?
She was: earth, wind, fire.
Mother natures charms.
Final sentence end: …in disgrace.
I still need to work on this!
If further inspiration strikes, I’ll be sure to add it to here so it doesn’t clog up your reader feed. On another note, its vino o’clock again! YAY!!
I particularly loved the short poem inspired by the picture! Quite beautiful in its simplicity.

Thank you, I’m very new to writing poems but some prompts have inspired me recently. I guess there is no right or wrong way of doing it. I’m just happy to give things a whirl 🙂

Thank you, some are obviously better than others. I often just brain dump here on WordPress (whether I consider them any good or not). Thanks for the positive feedback though. I’m loving the quote challenge you set me! I’m already thinking about tomorrows quote.
